Fees & Costs

The fees we charge are transparent and following an initial consultation, I will write to you with a proposed fee structure specifying the cost of the work. Along with the fee proposal, I will set out the scope of the works for your project and include a copy of our terms and conditions and schedule of disbursements. Fees are generally based on an hourly rate and fee proposals will be structured in this way based on our experience of how many hours a project is likely to involve. However, depending on the project there may be occasions, when a fixed fee may be considered appropriate.

As a company regulated by both the Royal Town Planning Institute and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, we are required by their codes of conduct to enter into a formal written agreement prior to commencing work on your behalf.

That is a legally binding agreement that and protects the interests of both parties by setting out the terms and conditions of the engagement and the scope of work the commission entails.

On instruction, which can be via a confirmation email that you wish to engage our services, a deposit to cover disbursements will be required and this will be confirmed in the letter of engagement.

Please note that on payment of the deposit or initial part of the fee there may not be anything visible for you, as the client, to see. Much of the initial work, may well be sourcing legislation, case law, planning policies both national and local, and speaking to and working with other consultants that may be involved in the submission of the end piece of work. We will always endeavour to provide you with regular progress reports and updates so that you are kept fully informed as far as is possible.

Should the required work go outside of the scope or change as the project evolves, we reserve the right to revisit the budget at which point you can take a decision as to whether to continue. Similarly, should it take less time than expected we will only charge for the time spent on the project.

It should be noted that Local Authority planning fees are not included within our fees and these will need to be paid separately prior to an application being submitted. These should be paid directly to the Local Planning Authority or via the planning portal.

Any fees for external consultants (e.g. highway engineer, arborists, ecologist, etc;) should also be paid directly to the consultant themselves. However, with our excellent network of contacts we are able to source well respected, professional consultants with impressive track records in whatever field that specialist input is required. I am happy to assemble a team of specialist consultants on behalf of clients as well as manage and co-ordinate them for you if you require this service as part of the commission.

If paying by bank transfer, please quote the reference given to you when making the payment.

Receipt for Payment

A receipt will be provided for all transactions once payment is received.
