Project: Historic Building Recording | Location: Slacks Farm, Acre Street, Whitworth | Date: January 2019
MPD were commissioned to produce a Historic Building Record of the Barn at Slacks Farm which was to be converted into am extension to the existing dwelling which was attached to the barn. Being both members of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) and the Chartered Institute of Archaeologists.
A site visit was undertaken and a photographic record of the building was made. Floor plans, elevations and sketches were produced. We built up a history of the development of the barn as it had changed and developed over its life time. Research was undertaken using the Historic Environment Record and other archive material held by the Lancashire Records Office and the Local History Society to inform the report further.
The work was undertaken in accordance with the standard specification issued by Lancashire County Archaeology Service.
The report was used to satisfy the planning condition requiring a historic building recording to be made prior to conversion work commencing on the barn structure.
